Our Origin Story
My grandmother was just 45 years old when her doctor told her she had lupus and that there was nothing they could do to help her. On her way home from work one day she stopped at Kensington market and met a Chinese man who sent her home with all kinds of plants/roots for medicinal tea, herbal tinctures in a little brown bottle and an alternative way to look at her disease. From that day forward she took control of her own health by including traditional and herbal medicines in her daily routine. She lived a strong and vibrant life, free from the disease, until she died in 2015 at the age 96. Her story inspired me to follow my own journey of natural healing.
Volunteering on an organic farm in 2012, the farmer was brewing a large batch of Kombucha and I loved the alien looking thing that created the fizzy tangy beverage we enjoyed at lunch. I went home with a mason jar filled with starter tea (kombucha) and my very own SCOBY (mother – Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast). This inspired me to start on my journey, helping people on their wellness journey through better gut health.
